Over 35 years, Jon Strong has been in numerous roles in IT from developer and architect through CIO and CTO,
and has built and run consulting organizations for some of the largest professional services firms. Supporting
Fortune 100 and 500 firms, he has led mission critical initiatives in IT Strategy, Organization and Process
Improvement, IT and Business Operations Transformation, Governance and Compliance, Product Development,
Online Gaming, User Experience, Application Lifecycle Management, Enterprise Information Management, and
Service and Program Management. Jon has worked across multiple industries including financial services (both
corporate and consumer-facing), social media and customer engagement, broadcast media, retail, health care,
pharma and manufacturing. His background in each case spans hands-on work through strategic and leadership
roles.
As CIO / CTO for MRU Holdings, Jon built and led the IT operation enabling a customer-facing student loan business
serving hundreds of thousands of online customers to build a billion-dollar portfolio. He established real-time
marketing analytics to assess the effectiveness of multiple concurrent versions of ad campaigns as well as alternate
versions of online user experience, model future activity via predictive analytics and learning models, and enable
the company to optimize marketing spend and user experience in real time to establish, secure and grow market
share.
Jon’s expertise in online customer experience, user engagement and system reliability was demonstrated when he
created a million-member online game site (IonThunder) and community ranked among the top 10 by Comscore,
while maintaining a 99.999% uptime.
While directing an internal consulting team for RCA’s CFO, Jon led numerous programs for NBC Network Staff,
News, Sports, Radio and TV, ranging from finance through consumer engagement, advertising analytics and day-
part optimization for radio and TV advertising, modeling, predictive analytics and BI. Jon led key programs in
manufacturing reporting, forecasting and analytics for Banquet Foods, Random House Books and Coronet Carpets.
Jon also led creation of RCA’s global analytics and BI platform, spanning all 31 global operating units. The platform
was adopted by GE, spun off as a company, with the product eventually being marketed as IBM Cognos Finance.
As consulting lead supporting Sears and Eye Care Centers of America, Jon’s teams implemented the financial and
retail (both in-store and back-office) platforms that enabled ECCA’s growth from a dozen locations to hundreds.
As consulting Principal supporting the CIO and CFO, Jon led multiple initiatives at Serta Simmons Bedding, including
creation of the enterprise data management, analytics and BI platform, establishment of the firm’s first
comprehensive analytics platform supporting intra-day profitability analysis across hundreds of products and
hundreds of thousands of customers. Jon supported the President of Sales to lead the analysis and redesign of all
systems and processes impacted by the internal merger of the entire Serta and Simmons sales organizations,
including all product lines and customers.
As Global Consulting Director at TEKsystems Global Services, Jon led multiple teams and initiatives from back office
through e-commerce and fulfillment, including numerous initiatives for clients such as Ally / GMAC, Comcast,
Constellation Energy, Covance, Geisinger Health Plan, GSI Commerce, iCongo, Markel Insurance, Medifast, Time
Warner Cable, Tyco Electronics, and Travelers Insurance. As consulting principal, Jon advised on IT service
management optimization supporting approximately 1000 retail grocery locations for Delhaize America. Jon was
also tapped by Standard & Poor’s to advise on global equity index computation (S&P 500 and others), advised on
integration of Citibank’s Salomon Smith-Barney Global Equity Indices, and helped S&P’s Chief Compliance Officer
plan and run implementation of SEC compliance rules impacting all offices, globally.
Working with clients on Wall Street and in Tokyo, London, Canada and Hong Kong, Jon has created new operations,
turned around failing projects, programs and companies, created new commercial products and services, and
saved clients hundreds of millions of dollars.
